Hypocrisy #3

This is my third post in a series titled Hypocrisy.  I believe in calling things what they are, without the BS and sanitized, “sounds good” descriptions.  Murder is murder, whether you do it with a gun from the 32nd floor, or whether you do it with the deadly tools of an abortionist in a Planned Parenthood clinic.  My thoughts on the Las Vegas atrocity and the daily massacre by America’s abortion industry follow:

In a predictably Pavlonian response, all the left wing wack jobs are calling for new gun control laws in the wake of the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas.  The same tired argument, “If we can save just one life with new gun control laws, it will be worth it,” has been dragged from the lefty playbook of focus group catch phrases.  The left is willing to take our guns away to arguably save one life, while they rabidly support the murder of thousands of unborn children every day, to satisfy the blood lust of America’s abortion industry.  From where I’m sitting, that is textbook hypocrisy.

Since the Las Vegas shooting, about 25,000 unborn children have been murdered in America, under cover of the fatally flawed Roe v Wade decision.  60 million have died since 1973, and another million will die this year.  Like any sane person, I’m horrified that another human being would murder 58 fellow human beings.  I’m also saddened that the greatest country on earth allows its unborn children to be killed as a matter of convenience.   As I’ve previously written, a society that entertains itself with TV shows, movies, and video games that depict graphic violence, needs to look into the mirror when the violence becomes real.

I don’t claim to have the answers, but it appears to me that when a nation becomes desensitized to violence, it becomes more violent. When you call the murder of an unborn child reproductive health care, it doesn’t sound that bad.  You can call it whatever you want, but when you allow millions of unborn children to be killed, the consequences are inevitable.  Since this is my forum for my opinions, I firmly believe that if you see evil and do nothing, you are complicit with evil.

There is no socially redeeming value to killing babies for money.  In a sane world and a values based society, there would be no place for an organization like Planned Parenthood.  An industry of death should not be a growth industry in a country like America.  Our most important founding principle, the right to life, applies to unborn children just a much as it applies to you and me.  When we collectively come to this realization, we can heal as a nation.

Why I’m Not Watching the NFL

For as long as I can remember, I’ve looked forward to watching football on Sunday afternoons.  If I was having a bad week, I always knew that Sunday was coming, and football would be there.  The recent and ongoing controversy over who is taking a knee this week, and who is standing up, has changed football, and changed me.   As a veteran who willingly took the risk of coming home in a box, under cover of our flag, I find it quite unsavory that professional athletes, living the American Dream, feel it is appropriate to take a knee during the playing of our National Anthem.  I also find it unsavory that after receiving a massive and negative response for their actions, players and teams are trying to explain what they were really protesting.  If you have to explain what you were protesting after you have protested, you’ve already lost the argument.  Regardless of what you claim to be protesting, if you kneel during the playing of our National Anthem, you are disrespecting America and dishonoring every man and woman who has died in defense of  our country, our freedoms, and our founding principles.

Many of these spoiled millionaires are claiming that they are simply exercising their First Amendment right of free speech when they take a knee.  The First Amendment protects your right to make an ass of yourself, but it doesn’t shield you from the consequences of exercising that right.  The fans are staying home in droves and viewership is declining precipitously.  If the players and owners don’t have a problem with fewer and fewer fans willing to buy what they are selling, then, by all means, continue kneeling.

In the big scheme of things, football simply isn’t that important.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness trumps (pun intended) football 7 days a week.  The NFL controls its own destiny.  Unfortunately, the more than 3,000 unborn children who will be murdered in America’s abortion mills tomorrow don’t have a choice in the matter.  If the “all knowing” players in the NFL want to protest something, may I suggest that they protest the fact that America’s taxpayers are forced to dole out over $500 million to Planned Parenthood every year?  If they like taking a knee, take a knee and pray for every unborn child whose tomorrows will never come.

In my opinion, when you accept the fame and fortune that come with being a professional athlete , you accept the responsibility of being a role model, like it or not.  If the players of the NFL are unable to accept that obligation, walk away and let someone who is willing to do so, step forward and stand up.

Letter to President Obama

When I started this blog 4 years ago, I had no idea what I was going to write. I just knew I had to do it. The first letter I wrote was to President Obama. I was under no delusion that he would actually read it, but like all the letters I write to politicians, I was hoping that whoever read it would start to think about the modern day holocaust that is taking place in America’s abortion mills.
Four years later, under President Trump, the possibilities that Planned Parenthood will be defunded and Roe v wade will be reversed are very real. The right to life is back in style in America.
The following letter, written to the worst President in my lifetime, began my journey as a pro-life advocate. For the sake of every unborn child, I pray that it is a short journey.

I am the proud grandfather of 2 grandsons. My first grandson, who also happens to be my best friend in the world, is 2 years old and the joy of my life. My second grandson currently resides in my daughter’s tummy and is well past the halfway point in his development towards our first face to face meeting and embrace in September.

Mr. President, in my eyes and I’m sure in the eyes of our Creator, my yet unnamed second grandson is just as much alive and human as my 2 year old grandson, and has been so since the moment of his conception.

Sir, please explain to me why you think it should be legal, and more importantly, moral to slaughter our unborn children in America’s abortion mills, all while America’s taxpayers are forced to fund the world’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, to the tune…

Letter to President Trump #1

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave.  NW

Washington, DC  20500

Attn:    President Donald J. Trump

February 4, 2017

Mr. President:

As a matter of full disclosure, you were not my first choice for President.  Quite frankly, when you announced you were running, I thought it was nothing more than a publicity stunt.  After my first two choices dropped out, I started to take a harder look at you.  What I saw was eye-opening.  Here was a billionaire with a beautiful wife, a great family, homes and golf courses all over the world, and a private jet ready to fly him anywhere at any time.  You didn’t need this.  Why would you open yourself to be ridiculed, threatened, and second-guessed if you weren’t truly committed to making America great again?

Mr. President, I’m proud to have voted for you and will apologize to no one for doing so.  I voted for a man who promised what he would do if he was elected; and two weeks into your administration, you are keeping your promises.  No President in my lifetime has moved more quickly to right the wrongs of the previous administration and to implement the changes he promised.

Although I’m not a single issue voter, as a pro-life advocate, I would never vote for a candidate who supports abortion.  Sir, you promised to defund Planned Parenthood and to work to repeal Roe v Wade.  I’m encouraged that you have already defunded Planned Parenthood’s foreign operations and made the Hyde Amendment permanent.  Now it’s time to stop sending over $500 million to Planned Parenthood’s US operations every year.

Mr. President, 3,000 innocent babies are killed every day in America’s abortion mills.  Planned Parenthood kills another child every 90 seconds.  The greatest country on earth should not be subsidizing the killing of its unborn children.  I know you have a lot on your plate, but nothing is more important than protecting the most vulnerable among us.  I respectfully request that you expedite the defunding of Planned Parenthood and the repeal of Roe v Wade.

All my letters are published on my pro-life blog at http://www.prolifepoppop.com.   Should you choose to write back, I’ll publish your reply, unedited.

What if Today is the Day?

Happy Thanksgiving to Pro-Life Pop Pop’s friends and readers. On the day that we give thanks for all we have and those we love, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge that we live in a dangerous world. Forces of evil want to undo our way of life, and individually, we need to be prepared to do what has to be done to protect our fellow man. These thoughts were weighing heavily on me when I wrote the following piece in July of last year. To all my friends; ask yourself if you will be ready if today is the day you are called upon to be a hero?

What if today is the day you are called upon to be a hero?  What if it’s tomorrow?  Will you be ready?  Have you prepared yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually for whatever situation you may find yourself in?  We live in an increasingly violent world with industries dedicated to killing unborn children and terrorists bent on destroying anyone and anything they don’t approve of.  The distinct possibility that any of us could find ourselves in a situation where the actions we take will decide who lives and who dies is a fact of life we should not take lightly.

I ask myself if I will have what it takes if it’s my turn to be a hero.  I have an extensive martial arts background.  I run and lift weights, and work hard to live my life with honor and integrity; and still I ask myself if I will be the…

The Master Plan

As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m reflecting on some of the work I’ve done for the pro-life movement. I’m reviewing the hundreds of letters and commentaries I’ve written over the course of the last several years. As I’ve said before; when I go back and read pieces I wrote a couple years ago, it’s like I’m reading them for the first time.
I honestly don’t remember writing the following piece 2 years ago, but I could change the date, and nothing has changed. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older. Maybe it’s because I continue to think about the innocent victims of our abortion culture every hour of every day. I’m convinced that when the practice of abortion ends, the horrible visions that haunt me will end as well. Until then, I’ll continue to search for my place in the Master Plan.

Call it God, call it Universal Intelligence, call it whatever you want.  An organizing force or being beyond our comprehension set each of our lives into motion.  This organizing force or being that I choose to call God granted each of us His animating spark of life for reasons known only to Him.  The free will we were granted, along with the gift of life, allows us to choose the direction we take for the days we’ve been given.  If we listen closely to the infallible inner voice that resides deep within each of us, we will find our purpose and devote ourselves to our role in His master plan.  It takes longer for some of us than others to discover our role.  Some of us never do.  I was well into my fifties before I realized that my calling in this life was to protect children and to end…

Letter to NARAL #5

The fact that NARAL President, Ilyse Hogue, is in the running for Chairman of the DNC should tell you everything you need to know about the direction the Democrat Party wants to take America in. NARAL, the National Abortion Rights Action League, is a despicable organization whose sole purpose is to make it easier for a woman to have her unborn child killed.
In May of 2014 I wrote the following letter to Ms. Hogue, after receiving a letter from her in which she called me an “anti-choice zealot.” I’m proud to be labeled an “anti-choice zealot” by an organization that encourages a woman to choose to kill her child.
In a way, I hope Ms. Hogue gets the job. The recent election drove the first nail in Planned Parenthood’s coffin. Having a co-conspirator of America’s abortion industry as the head of the Democrat Party will finish the job for us.

 Ms. Hogue:

I continue to be amazed and dismayed by the steps NARAL and other pro-abortion organizations will go to in order to promote the killing of unborn children.  Misinformation, outright lies, and distortion of the facts are all you have to work with in your quest to justify the unjustifiable.  Your latest effort; pressuring Google to remove ads for Crisis Pregnancy Centers from its sites.  Crisis Pregnancy Centers provide counseling, medical care, and alternatives to abortion for pregnant women.  You oppose these Centers for one reason only; money.  You know that every mother they convince to allow their baby to be born is one less baby the killers you support will get to kill; for a fee, of course.

In your recent letter to me you referred to people like me…

4 Years Later

Anyone that knows me, knows that my life revolves around my 2 grandsons. Time spent with them is the most valuable commodity I can think of. When I wrote this piece in February of 2015, my oldest grandson had just celebrated his 4th birthday. I find it amazing that both my grandsons didn’t exist a few short years ago, and now that they are here, the world will never be the same.
In less than 3 weeks, America has a choice to make. Do we choose for President a woman who is the abortion industry’s best friend, or a man who believes in the sanctity of life and wants to overturn Roe v Wade? Its an easy choice for me; as it should be for everyone who was allowed to be born.

Pro Life Pop Pop

Last week we celebrated my oldest grandson’s 4th birthday.  I find it miraculous that a little over 4 years ago he didn’t exist, and now I can’t imagine life without him.  That’s what life is; a miracle.  Out of nothingness comes a new life, and the world changes every time another heart begins to beat.  I’m fascinated by the animating life force that makes our hearts beat, allows virtually every cell in our bodies to die and be replaced every few months, and even makes our hair turn gray; all with no conscious effort on our part.  I’m intrigued that this life force can’t be created by man even though we can destroy it.

I accept the gift of life I was given as an opportunity to use my time on earth to find my purpose and to exercise my free will to pursue it.  My children and grandsons remind…

Letter to President Obama #108

When I started this blog, my intention was to write a letter to President Obama every day until I received a cogent, well thought out response. After receiving dozens of form letters from the White House, generated by keyword recognition software, topped off with auto signed signatures, I decided to branch out. I still like to keep in touch, letting the President know how disappointed I am with his policies on abortion and the utter incompetence of his leadership. When I wrote the following letter in October of last year, I was particularly frustrated that every time he comes out to bemoan gun ownership in America, he ends the speech by saying that he has to push gun control laws, even if it only saves one child. This, from a man who supports abortion and actively promotes it. President Obama is a miserable failure and a legend in his own mind. I can’t wait until he is shown the exit from the people’s house. I only hope that Hillary isn’t walking in as he is walking out. As with all my letters to the President, I copy Planned Parenthood, since they are both joined at the hip.

Mr. President:

Every time a mass killing involving a firearm takes place in America you trot to the podium, fire up your teleprompter, and proceed to lecture the country on the liberal mantra of taking guns out of the hands of law-abiding people.  Even an utterly inept leader like you has to know that an insane lunatic hell-bent on killing as many people as possible will find a way to do it; gun or no gun.  Mr. President, institutions that advertise that they are gun-free zones are inviting any idiot, who may be so inclined, to come in and start shooting, because no one will be returning fire.

Sir, for the last time, gun control laws are only obeyed by law-abiding citizens.  Taking guns from law-abiding citizens tilts the balance in favor of…

Gutless

I wrote the following piece in September of 2015. On the day I wrote it, the Senate had just killed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Child Protection Act; a bill designed to save unborn children who had developed to the point that they could feel the agony of being torn to shreds by an abortionist. Any sane, moral person would support this bill. Hillary Clinton is against it.
The House, Senate, and White House are full of gutless cowards, more concerned with getting reelected than saving children. In about 3 weeks we get to decide if we want business as usual to continue. A vote for Hillary will say you don’t have a problem with corruption and lawlessness. It will say you don’t have a problem electing a President who supports abortion right up to the moment of birth.
Being gutless and being a coward is easy. Having the courage of conviction to do what you know is right, regardless of the consequences, is hard, but worth it. In the end, we will all be held to account for the choices we made during our life. I choose to protect the unborn, and I’ll gladly accept the consequences of my actions.

Pro Life Pop Pop

Our elected officials on both sides of the aisle are gutless.  Politics and staying in office are more important to them than the sanctity of human life.  They would rather continue to funnel $500 million a year to Planned Parenthood than force the President to veto defunding legislation.  Same goes for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Our elected leaders agree to hold “show votes” that they know will go nowhere so they can go home and tell their constituents that they tried.  Trying doesn’t cut it.  Doing is the only way to get anything done.

Some things in life are worth fighting for and worth risking everything for.  If we can’t count on our elected leaders to fight for the lives of innocent children, we need new elected leaders.  I’ll vote for anyone of any party who pledges to fight for the right to life of the unborn and…
